25.03.-17.04.2024Closure of Stanmore Lane Winchester - UPDATE

On weekdays between 25th March and 17th April Stanmore Lane will be closed to through traffic.   As of 3rd April the contractors have moved to work on the section of Stanmore Lane between Cromwell Road and Wavell Way, including blocking off the roundabout at the Stanmore Lane Wavell Way junction. As a result Stagecoach are unable to serve MINDEN WAY or WAVELL WAY.   Buses are running as normal from Winnall and the city to the top of Cromwell Road and are then turning left and returning to the city via Stanmore Lane and St Cross Road.  This arrangement will continue between 0800 and 1600 each day whilst the works remain in their current location. Passengers from the top of Stanmore have three options - walk to Badger Farm and use service 5, walk to Battery Hill stops in Romsey Road or walk to corner of Cromwell Road.   On schooldays the closure will only be between 0930 and 1430 each day but during the Easter school holidays works will take place between 0800 and 1600 each weekday.

Attempts are still underway to arrange with the contractor to be able to access sections of the road during the closures to enable service 2 to serve parts of Stanmore, as yet with no success. However, service 61 will run between Bushfield roundabout and Battery Hill along Badger Farm Road during times of closure, not serving St Cross or Stanmore.  Outside of working times buses on both services 2 and 61 will run to their normal routes. Please be patient if your journey is delayed or disrupted as a result of these works which are beyond Stagecoach's control.
